2 PM Master Class Presented by Judy Carmichael at the Monroe County History Center (Free) One of the foremost interpreters of stride and swing piano, Ms. Carmichael presents a free master class for intermediate and advanced pianists—and non-musician observers interested in the history of jazz piano--on America’s first popular music, ragtime, and discuss how ragtime evolved into the early jazz piano style “stride” and how both influenced the jazz that followed. Limited to 20 pianists and 60 observers. Please note: You must preregister to participate in the Master Class.
